Former Prime Minister of India
Member of Parliament – Lok Sabha

Dear Sri Siddharamaiah,

As you are well aware of, Venkatappa Gallery is a pride of our State and represents our culture in its entirety. It is the responsible duty of the State government to save Venkatappa museum, which stands for the self-esteem of art fraternity of the State as well as the city. Currently some vested interests have been attempting to grab this gallery for selfish reasons.

Recently, a team of art fraternity headed by Dr. Kamala Hampana met you and has already requested you to retain the autonomy of this gallery and not yield to the pressure of privatization. You also have promised and confided to art fraternity that you would not let such a thing happen at any cost.

I heartfully request you to not let the State government to yield to any such lobbies and retain the Venkatappa Gallery/Museum as an independent cultural center.

With regards,

Yours
H.D. Devegowda
